While the Internet of Things is still in its infancy, this technology is poised for massive growth in the next decade. We are already seeing computer- and sensor-infused objects in a variety of industries, including automotive, energy, consumer electronics and in-home appliances. As it becomes less expensive to integrate technology into physical objects, we will see more application and adoption of this technology. The Internet of Things will have major implications for both business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) companies in the next five years.
Robert Hale and Associates will conduct a comprehensive quarterly survey to explore current consumer usage and trends for purchase from wearables, watches to Smartphones, Tablets, Set Top Boxes, etc. used in various applications from health and home to entertainment and transportation. The survey will be conducted with over 2,000 US consumers every quarter to gain trends and micro trends in usage and behavior of the technology to include applications, data needs and behavior (e.g. how do they use the technology). In addition, issues surrounding privacy and sharing data will be explored. All this data will be segmented by demographics as well as product usage, brand loyalty and other key market segments as well as by early adopters.
The survey will be expanded in late 2015 to include W. Europe (and in 2017 expanded to Latin America and Asia-Pacific).
These reports will be available for purchase starting in May, 2015.
